Semi Blocks curve of Crooked Hill Road for 15 min. almost jackknifes

On Wednesday December 11, 2024, at approximately 5:10 pm, a 45 foot tractor trailer tried to navigate the sharp curve in front of 20 Crooked Hill Road and became wedged for 15 minutes, snarling after work traffic with cars being unable to pass the truck from western Crooked Hill Road and the stop sign at North Main Street and Crooked Hill Road. Neighbors came out to see what was going on and watched in the dark as the driver of the semi had to repeatedly get out and see if he was clearing the garbage cans, mail boxes ,stone wall and telephone poles lining this sharp curve. The truck belonged to Kokar Trucking. After on ramp to the expressway, this is the first time in the history of Pearl River that there was a traffic jam on this almost country-like section of road. The road bends as it was an Indian trail, then a natural switchback for the Hoboken stage coach line which ran to Middletown Road to Bogarts tavern from 1830 to 1872.
