The road repair work slated between Townline road and the south entrance of route 304 is complete. As for the straightening of Washington Avenue at the Pascack Brook, this project, which includes replacing the bridge, will take some time. It has already caused delays for those commuting to job in New Jersey and vice versa. Most of this work is being done on the north side of the road on land that is part of the undeveloped park run under the aegis of the Orangetown Parks Department. Many stately oaks have been felled to accommodate the new design of the bridge and road. This spring’s trout fishing is a bust. In the past flooding and accidents have been a nuisance and a danger. It is a lament that we know that this work must be done, yet it diminishes the country-like atmosphere of the area. If this work will correct the curve, dip and narrowness of this section of road we are for it.
